New in version 3.2 SR1 Palo BI Suite
As you may know, is now available 3.2SR1 version of Palo BI Suite. Among the enhancements in this version include:
- Improvements to memory usage
- Improved performance of the rules
- Improved multi-user performance and scalability. It is recommended that those with many concurrent users migrate to this version.
- Availability of Verson GPU handling large cubes
There are a lot of improvements but this article I will focus on usability and web application design.
The new version of Palo BI Suite also brings some interesting new features that make the development of CPM applications on the web is increasingly easy and the result more attractive.
Next step to spell out some of these.
- NEW APPLICATION DEMO . There is a new feature but we can shed light on how best to build our applications. Demonstrates the use of framesets, navigation schemes and macros.
- WIDGETS . Now allows the addition of widgets within spreadsheets with which we can extend the functionality of our applications. Widgets can interact with our views transferring information and added to them HTML, Javascript and PHP. We can extend our applications with graphics libraries, mathematics, etc. which are available for those languages. You can interact with the libraries of Google, Yahoo, etc.
Here is an example of a navigation system with a banner and a map which are used to select the data view we want to see.
And this is an example using Google Maps. Each time you select a geographic region in our view the communication is made with Google Maps to show the selected region.
And this is another example that mimics the "Slicers" in Excel 2010 or QlikView.
- USE OF FRAMES. Now there is a component called "frameset" to split the screen into quadrants which can be addressed from other reports which increases and improved navigation capabilities and building dashboards. Each frame is independent and which can achieve the effect of leaving a light frozen while we review some of the other frames.
- NAMES MANAGER. Has incorporated this functionality exists in Excel on the Web application that provides name a cell or cell areas with names which allows a higher order in our application.
- new formatting options for graphics. charts now support options such as transparency, orientation of the labels and viewing angles.
- EXPORT TO PDF . Now the setup installs the option to export reports to PDF leaves. Can defined options such as page orientation, scaling, etc.
- PRIVATE VARIABLES . By default each user variables were global. Now version 3.2 allows some variables are defined as private which are stored as such for each user.
- IMPROVEMENTS TO FLOATING OBJECTS. objects as widgets, combo box and graphics have been enhanced by the addition of properties such as blocking in one position, send backward / forward what makes working with these objects easier.
Equally important is the improvement in the documentation for the version and the same examples what we functionality provides greater clarity on that, although still present in the software was not evident nor had examples of their use. Special mention should be made examples of applications that demonstrate the use of macros and interaction with the application widgets.
- PUBLICATION OF REPORTS FROM EXCEL TO WEB . Reports can be published directly from Excel (excluding graphics for now) to the Web server. Can then be edited on the web or Excel as required.
